Published since 2002, LAJAM is the scientific journal of the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Especialistas en Mamíferos Acuáticos (SOLAMAC). In 2011 LAJAM ceased its print version and became an online-only publication.

LAJAM publishes research articles on the biology, management, and conservation of the aquatic mammals in Latin America. Articles on theory or techniques that are widely applicable to the study of aquatic mammals will also be considered even when the research has taken place outside of Latin America. LAJAM also publishes special volumes dedicated to specific species or topics.
