If you truly need to be skinny, fit and beautiful for the beach AND beyond this upcoming summer season. My advice to you is simple. Try something new. Think differently. As Albert Einstein once said so well....."Insanity is the act of doing the very SAME thin over and over again...and expecting a different result" When talking about weight and fitness the term "body fat percentage" is used a lot, but what does it mean and, more importantly, what is a healthy body fat percentage? It is the amount of fat that your body is carrying. Typically, calculating this is much more accurate than the old-fashioned body mass index, because it takes into account body shape and muscle mass rather than just height and weight. It is now widely known that muscle is heavier than fat. However, muscle tissue is less dense than fat. In other words, if you filled two balloons: one with 1 lb of muscle and the other with 1 lb of fat, the balloon with fat in it would be larger than the balloon with muscle. In practical terms, this means that two individuals can both weigh 140 lbs, but the one who performs regular exercise and has greater muscle mass will be slimmer and have a lower percentage of fat than a person who weighs the same, but does little or no exercise. In other words, the body mass index does not always give an indication of how healthy you are or whether you have a healthy body fat percentage. So, how is it measured?
